Class 1 - 10:00-11:00 AM
10:30-11:30 Awareness Through Movement: A one-hour class in the Feldenkrais Method, with Louise Runyon
Ingenious, gentle movement sequences designed to bring mobility, ease and efficiency to all forms of physical activity, through heightened awareness of how the body - and mind - can function together as an integrated whole.
"The Feldenkrais Method is the most sophisticated and effective method I have seen for the prevention and reversal of deterioration of function." Margaret Mead, Ph.D., Anthropologist
Note: Participants will need mats.
Class 2 - 11:30 AM-12:30 PMBelly Dance Basics: The Moves Everyone Should Know with Heidi Baila
These fun and timeless moves require no previous dance training or targeted muscular contol. They are the basics that bring a smile to dancer's faces and make them feel a bit nostalgic. Following a relaxing warm up each move will be broken down, with variations and modifications provided for all levels. We’ll put them all together to create a fun combo and end with a cool down.
Class 3 - 1:00-2:00 PMLife in Full Bloom, with The Dancing Flowers for Peace
The Dancing Flowers for Peace invite you to "dig" into your creativity and discover your "full bloom" through improvisational play. We will create possibilities for our bodies to express and extend into fullness. What is our impact? What parts of our bodies will open?
Class 4 - 2:30-3:30 PMModern Lyrical Dance Class, with Alex Spitzer
My idea for this dance class came from how I would take dance class and how I have to adapt the movement off of what the teacher teaches. So my idea is, I will do the movement and the students will adapt the movement off of what I do and add to it also. As an example - (if I do a shoulder circle, you do the same movement too with your shoulder but add arm movements and/or maybe different levels from standing up to going to the ground. Also try your best to remember your movement you created with the shoulder circle movement I gave you so you are not doing different things each time we are doing a shoulder circle.) Also different in this class is that you create your own movement and not be doing what the person next to you is doing. So in the end everyone will be doing same floor patterns however your movements will be different.
